Betsy specializes in resolving her clients’ problems and delivering practical, innovative solutions for each of their unique issues. She is skilled in resolving multi-party construction claims, commercial and corporate disputes, and challenges involving insurance coverage, through negotiation, mediation, arbitration and litigation at all levels of court. Betsy regularly appears in the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the Court of Appeal for British Columbia, representing insurers, corporate clients and a wide range of construction industry clients, including owners, general contractors and design professionals.

Betsy’s construction law work includes construction lien advice, procurement disputes, contract interpretation, delay and disruption claims, and professional negligence defence.

In the insurance field, Betsy’s practice focuses on insurance coverage and defence. Her clients include international, national and regional insurers and their clients. She also advises her insurer clients on policy wording, regulatory compliance and risk management strategies, and regularly drafts and facilitates negotiation of clients’ licensing, distribution and service contracts.

Betsy is also volunteer counsel as a member of the Access Pro Bono Society of BC, Court of Appeal Program, which provides pro bono services to self-represented litigants in the Court of Appeal for British Columbia.
