Brian Hennigan is managing partner of Hueston Hennigan LLP. Over the course of an outstanding career, Mr. Hennigan has specialized in complex litigation, with an emphasis on white-collar criminal defense and investigations.   For more than 20 years, he has successfully represented individuals and corporations facing a wide array of challenges presented by federal prosecutors and investigating agencies.  Recent matters have resulted in the successful representations of individuals facing allegations under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the Securities and Exchange Commission Act, the Internal Revenue Code, and the Sherman Act.  He has also represented Fortune 500 corporations in a variety of civil disputes, including antitrust, trade secret, and unfair competition litigation.

Mr. Hennigan is regularly engaged to represent a variety of institutions, corporations, professional athletes, leaders of various religious denominations, doctors, lawyers, accountants, and business executives in federal criminal matters.   As an example, Mr. Hennigan is currently representing a corporate entity in the Department of Justice investigation of the multibillion-dollar Malaysia Development Berhad criminal and civil forfeiture matter, and he represents a corporate executive indicted in a pending DOJ antitrust case.   Recently, Mr. Hennigan, along with retired California Supreme Court Justice Carlos R. Moreno, was engaged by the University of California board of regents to conduct a fact-finding review of the events relating to a state audit of the university system. As a result of his work on that investigation, Brian Hennigan received recognition as a California Lawyer of the Year (2018) by the  Daily Journal.

Mr. Hennigan is a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, an honor reserved for less than one percent of active lawyers who have “mastered the art of advocacy and whose professional careers have been marked with the highest standards of ethical conduct, professionalism, civility, and collegiality.”

Mr. Hennigan has earned significant praise from clients and colleagues for his white-collar practice.   Chambers USA  has ranked him in Band 1 every year since 2008 in the White Collar Crime & Government Investigations category, lauding him as a “creative thinker and problem solver” and “a terrific attorney because of his great ability to communicate with judges and juries.”  Legal500  recently recognized him as a leading lawyer and a “Hall of Fame” lawyer.   In 2019, Mr. Hennigan was honored by the Loyola Law School Innocence Project as a Lawyer of the Year for his work in obtaining the release of a Maria Mendez, a criminal defendant who was wrongfully convicted by the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office.   Benchmark Litigation  has also recognized him, in 2019, as a “Top 20 Trial Lawyer in California” and among the “Top 100 Trial Lawyers in America.”
