In a case arising from one one of the biggest law firm raids in recent years, French firm Fidal has taken action against KPMG over the hiring of 144 of its lawyers including 26 partners.

Fidal is being represented by disputes firm Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier while KPMG is being defended by Veil Jourde.

The firm claims KMPG breached a break clause agreement between the firms during their partnership, although there remains disagreement about how the partnership ended. Fidal and KMPG’s non-exclusive partnership ended in July 2018.

Fidal is requesting damages for unfair competition, loss of turnover and disrespect towards a contract.

The dispute between the two firms is in its early stages and a hearing date is still to be confirmed.
