A Los Angeles plaintiff outfit, Taylor & Ring prides itself on being “trial lawyers fighting for victims,” most notably victims of sexual abuse. In a recent of particular salience, in April 2019, Dave Ring led a team that obtained an $8 million settlement (against the Archdiocese of Los Angeles in a case where a teenage female student was repeatedly sexually abused by her coach/athletic director at her private Catholic all-girls high school. This is the purportedly the largest settlement the Archdiocese of Los Angeles has ever agreed to pay for a single victim of sexual abuse. Ring also filed claims on behalf of six individuals against the City of Santa Monica and Santa Monica Police Activities League (PAL) for failing to protect them from sexual abuse inflicted by a former employee of the City of Santa Monica and volunteer of PAL. The claims allege the City of Santa Monica and PAL intentionally did not investigate and covered up numerous allegations made against the abuser that demonstrated he was sexually abusing young boys he met through the PAL program dating as far back as the early 1980s. In October 2018, John Taylor led a team that won a $5 million settlement for a student who was abused by her eighth grade teacher at Thomas Edison Middle School.
