Melvin Chan and Thio Shen Yi are key figures in the commercial disputes practice. Additionally, they specialise in construction disputes.
Case highlights include defending Tan Shou Yi Peter, a former senior financial services manager of Prudential Assurance, against Prudential Assurance for allegedly breaching contractual non-solicitation obligations and fiduciary duties by soliciting over 230 agents to leave the plaintiff and join a competitor; acting for main contractor Hyundai-GS Joint Venture in a claim against EQ Insurance for payment under a performance bond issued in respect of the construction of the Marina One Project; and advising Mizuho Bank of Japan, Hyflux’s second largest creditor and the largest non-secured creditor, in Hyflux’s restructuring.
In the past 12 months, Adrian Tan joined as head of intellectual property from Morgan Lewis Stamford. Ong Pei Ching also joins the dispute resolution team from Morgan Lewis Stamford.
