César Ramos is the Director of Criminal Litigation at Albagli Zaliasnik (AZ) and has been at the helm for the better part of the last two years. César has reorganized the area and refocused the team in order to take on the recent changes within the criminal law codes in Chile. Subsequently, adding three more powerhouse lawyers to confront the new challenges the criminal law industry is facing. Now, with a more comprehensive and preventative view and incorporating the area of compliance into each client’s ongoing matters, César has revitalized the area to be one of the most holistic criminal law practices within Chile.
On a more personal level, Cesar’s practice has been focused in criminal law, specifically in matters of corporate law, economic disputes and counsel in the public sector. Before his time in AZ, César was an attorney in the Department of Studies at the Public Defender’s Office and had previously served as the Legal counsel of the Judicial Division within the Ministry of Justice. Throughout his career, he has participated in the design of legal defense strategies and technical support for highly complex cases of public importance. Moreover, he has participated and given advice in working commissions convened by government bodies for the development of public policies and bills regarding criminal and procedural matters.
To further round out his practice, Cesar also teaches at the university level, giving training courses at a national and regional level at the Public Defender’s Office and the Judicial Academy. Furthermore, he continues to be an active professor of criminal law at the Universidad Diego Portales Law School and teaches post-graduate courses at other local universities as well.
