Partner in the Commercial Litigation Group at BLG. David has extensive experience before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Court of Appeal for Ontario, both the trial and appellate divisions of the Federal Court, the Canadian International Trade Tribunal (CITT), Canadian Human Rights Tribunal, Ontario Municipal Board, and a wide variety of other tribunals, boards, and commissions. David regularly advises on and appears as litigation counsel in large procurement and tendering disputes before the CITT and the provincial superior courts. He holds an Osgoode Hall Law School Certificate in Public Procurement. He has significant defense experience in large multi-party construction disputes, professional liability matters, and commercial disputes including shareholder and oppression matters. David is a leading lawyer in the field of defamation and media law and has acted as defense counsel for many local, provincial and national media organizations, as well as for a variety of print and online publishers and institutions. He has a significant practice dealing with internet defamation both for Plaintiffs and defendants. David’s practice also involves a significant administrative law litigation component. Has wide experience in judicial review of both federal and provincial based governmental decisions before and he acts as defence counsel in professional discipline cases. David holds the Osgoode Law School Certificate in Professional Regulation & Discipline in the Ontario Health Care Sector. David has been both counsel and lead counsel on major Public Inquiries including the Cornwall Public Inquiry, which ran from 2005 until 2009.


Education: Obtained LLB from the University of Ottawa in 1989.


Called to the Ontario Bar in 1991.
Called to the Bar of Nunavut in 2018 and holds temporary calls to the Bar of the Yukon.
