Trevor is a Partner who has practiced exclusively in commercial and civil litigation for over 20 years, since being called to the bar in 2001 in Ontario, and joining the Alberta bar in 2007. He has been lead counsel in over 50 reported decisions, and dozens of trials, contested applications and appeals in the Alberta Court of King’s, Alberta Court of Appeal, Ontario Superior Court of Justice, Ontario Court of Appeal, Federal Court of Canada (Trial Division), Federal Court of Appeal and Supreme Court of Canada.

Trevor’s practice covers a broad and diverse range of matters, including intellectual property and technology, energy, corporate, shareholder, franchise, construction, estates, commercial tenancy, condominium, real estate and personal injury disputes. He has extensive experience in bringing and defending applications for extraordinary remedies, including interlocutory and permanent injunctions, specific performance, attachment orders, preservation orders, Mareva injunctions and Anton Piller orders.

In addition to representing corporations, such as energy companies, chemical companies, real estate developers, and construction contractors, Trevor also represents individuals. He was recently lead counsel in an occupiers’ liability trial where, for the first time in Canada, a court found a municipality liable for failing to provide adequate security at a transit station, which prevented transit staff from detecting and intervening in a prolonged assault, resulting in serious injuries to the plaintiff. The decision was upheld by the Alberta Court of Appeal (with a variation concerning the reasonable response time), and an application by the City of Calgary for leave to appeal to the Supreme Court of Canada was denied. The damages portion of the litigation is still underway.
