Joselino Morales leads the amparo trial and tax and administrative law litigation practice in Greenberg Traurig’s Mexico City office. With more than 20 years of experience leading high-stakes and complex trial cases in Mexican federal and state courts, he has been the lead lawyer in landmark litigation proceedings representing international and domestic clients across diverse industries, including infrastructure, telecommunications, paper, transportation, technology, satellite, construction, real estate, and energy.
With a significant track record of cases and trials, Joselino’s diverse experience also spans competition/antitrust, intellectual property, public work, and government contracts. Recently, he represented Uber in several litigation proceedings that allowed Uber to resume operations in Cancun and other cities of Quintana Roo, after over a year of inactivity, by challenging the local regulation and through Amparo trials and securing a binding precedent (jurisprudencia) that acknowledges their service as private, as opposed to a public service bound to a concession.
Joselino was also part of the trial team that helped secure Grupo Bio Pappel’s win against Mexico’s Competition Commission (COFECE), a landmark antitrust case which marked the first time that a judiciary overturned COFECE’s conditions on a merger.
Other notable representations include Satélites Mexicanos (Amparo trials in administrative proceedings); one of Mexico’s main airports (Amparo trials on competitions matters); one of the largest mobile network provider in the world (Amparo trials, administrative and regulatory proceedings); a major Mexican energy company (Amparo trials regarding compensatory adjustments on natural gas distribution fees).
Joselino has been recognized by Chambers and Partners, Benchmark Litigation, and Who’s Who Legal as one of the top lawyers in Mexico in his areas of practice.
In addition to his experience in private practice, Joselino previously served as Clerk of the Mexican Federal Court of Justice for Tax and Administrative Matters.
Joselino is an active member of Mexico’s Bar National Corporate Lawyers Association (ANADE). He holds a Law Degree and an Amparo Trial Diploma by Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico (UNAM), and a graduate diploma in Tax Law by Universidad Panamericana.
