Tim Dickson, a partner at JFK Law, is an experienced and creative litigator. He litigates in the courts of British Columbia and other provinces, the federal courts, and before regulatory tribunals. He has acted in major trials and public inquiries and in many complex petitions and judicial review proceedings. He has a busy appellate practice, and has been counsel in over a dozen Supreme Court of Canada cases.
The major focus of Tim’s practice is in public law, particularly in Aboriginal law, but also extending to other fields of constitutional law, including the division of powers and the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and to regulatory and administrative law matters. Tim also acts in class actions and major commercial cases.
In Aboriginal law matters, Tim litigates for Indigenous nations on a wide range of issues, including Aboriginal rights and title and Treaty rights, governments’ duty to consult and accommodate, and First Nation governance issues.
Tim also advises and represents Indigenous nations in negotiations relating to major resource projects, the reconciliation of competing interests in land, and the creation of new processes for decision-making by Indigenous nations and governments.
