Michael Hanin is one of the firm's highly accomplished litigators, having successfully represented clients in a string of high-profile cases relating to finance and investment funds. Mike focuses his practice on representing hedge funds in all varieties of litigation matters, with a particular emphasis on credit funds litigating disputes relating to structured trusts. Mike's clients include investment fund Waterfall Asset Management, Davidson Kempner Capital Management, Serengeti Asset Management, Deer Park Road Corporation, and One William Street Capital Management, as well as UniCredit Bank, valuation consultant Duff & Phelps Corporation, and Howard M. Meyers (CEO of Quexco).
Mike previously represented the Federal Housing Finance Agency in ground-breaking RMBS lawsuits against Morgan Stanley and Societe General, leading the Kasowitz team in pre-trial proceedings, discovery and negotiating settlements for the government agency in excess of $1.37 billion.
Mike was recognized on Benchmark Litigation's 2016 Under 40 Hot List. He was also previously recognized as a New York Law Journal Rising Star in 2015 and a Law 360 Rising Star in 2016, making him one of five attorneys listed in the banking practice area, and the only litigator.
Mike is a director and co-founder of Project ABLE, a non-profit charity dedicated to literacy in education in the developing world that currently supports projects in Nairobi, Kenya and Arusha, Tanzania.
