Andrew Leblanc serves as managing partner of the Washington, DC office of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy. He is a member of the firm’s Financial Restructuring and Litigation & Arbitration Groups.
Mr. Leblanc’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and financial restructuring, with a particular focus on contested issues arising in bankruptcy cases. He regularly represents official committees, secured and unsecured creditors, debtors, and bidders in bankruptcy cases, as well as financial institutions as defendants in adversary proceedings brought as part of bankruptcy cases. Mr. Leblanc’s practice is trial-focused, and he regularly appears before bankruptcy, district and appellate courts throughout the country.
Mr. Leblanc’s significant recent representations include as lead trial counsel for the ad hoc group of noteholders in the In re Nortel Networks bankruptcy, an ad hoc group of creditors in Ultra Petroleum, the lead lender in Molycorp, Lightsquared Inc. in its bankruptcy and related litigation, the Refco litigation trustee in claims arising from the bankruptcy of Refco, LLC, the lead lenders in the Texas Rangers bankruptcy, the lead second lien noteholders in the In re DBSD bankruptcy, and Vitro SAB, a Mexican glassmaker that filed a Chapter 15 petition in the United States.
Mr. Leblanc has been recognized as one of the leading lawyers in America for bankruptcy litigation by Chambers USA, Benchmark Litigation and Lawdragon. Benchmark Litigation has additionally recognized Mr. Leblanc as one of the “Top 10 Bankruptcy Practitioners in America” and as the “Bankruptcy Lawyer of the Year” in both 2017 and 2018.
