Nancy Sher Cohen is a Partner in the Lathrop GPM Los Angeles office and a leader of the firm’s Insurance Recovery & Counseling Practice Group. She also practices in the areas of Environmental Law and Product Liability & Tort Litigation. Serving several Fortune 500 and similar companies, Nancy handles matters related to insurance coverage, product liability, toxic and mass tort, class actions and general commercial litigation.
Nancy serves as lead counsel in the prosecution of many insurance coverage lawsuits related to life insurance claims and environmental and product liabilities, recovering more than $1.5 billion on behalf of her clients.
Reputable for her representation of high-profile clients in some of the most significant and complex modern-day insurance coverage matters, Nancy obtained a noteworthy appellate victory for a large, prominent plaintiff group, subjects of a complex environmental case, seeking CERCLA relief while faced with a potential $100 million-plus exposure. She also represents several homeowners and real estate developers affected by the Thomas Fire, the largest fire in California’s modern history, as well as those affected by the proceeding mudslides in the Montecito area that killed 17 people and destroyed dozens of homes. Additionally, Nancy served as lead counsel for the lender on the World Trade Center in prosecuting insurance coverage claims following the attack on the twin towers, and she advised on insurance issues related to Los Angeles’ successful bid for the 2028 Summer Olympics.
Nancy also maintains extensive experience in state and federal courts handling mass tort and complex multijurisdictional tort actions and as lead counsel in toxic tort cases. Her industry knowledge extends across a plethora of sectors, including defense, automotive, life sciences and real estate. Nancy also represents talent in entertainment litigation, including representation of Clint Eastwood in the trial of Locke v. Eastwood and David E. Kelley in copyright litigation.
