Tara Lee was the Benchmark Litigation 2017 U.S. Trial Lawyer of the Year, and in 2018 was again named a Top 100 Trial Lawyer, and to the Top 250 Women in Litigation list, as well as being named a Top Woman in Investigations by Global Investigation Review.
In addition to amassing extensive expertise focused on transnational work, and on behalf of the defense industry and the sports industry, Tara is a former military lawyer and federal prosecutor of sexual assault and sexual harassment cases. In private practice she has defended sexual assault, harassment trials and class actions, has developed climate and culture surveys in both proactive and reactive scenarios, has represented professional team and tournament owners in lawsuits against sports leagues, and has defended several universities in investigations into disparate treatment and mistreatment of women, as well as in defense of class action sexual assault litigation. She has extensive experience in crisis management and public relations. Her litigation and investigations practice includes complex cases, multi-jurisdictional cases, class actions, and some of the highest profile FCPA and FCA cases brought by the Department of Justice. She has particular subject-matter expertise managing investigations, litigation, and risk for clients expanding into the global marketplace and operating in emerging markets and unstable environments. She has testified as an expert witness on extraterritorial jurisdiction before the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee and has twice been invited to the United Nations to address UN Working Groups on extraterritorial accountability.
