Yvette Ostolaza, global co-leader of the Firm's litigation practice group, the managing partner of Sidley's Dallas office, member of the firm's Management Committee, Executive Committee and co-leader of the securities and shareholder litigation practice, has developed a national reputation as a versatile lawyer who excels in all aspects of complex disputes and investigations.
Yvette litigates matters in U.S. state and federal trial and appellate courts on behalf of sophisticated, global clients. She coordinates and tries proceedings in a variety of arbitration venues, serves on the Roster of Neutral Arbitrators for the AAA for commercial litigation matters and on the Panel of the CPR Panel of Distinguished Neutrals as an arbitrator for the International Institute of Conflict Prevention & Resolution. She regularly leads complex internal investigations on behalf of private equity firms, companies, board committees and individual directors and defends companies/directors in shareholder and securities class actions.
Admitted in New York and in Texas – where she formerly served as a Director of the State Bar, Yvette has particularly significant experience managing multi-jurisdictional disputes, including class actions, as well as business tort, securities/shareholder, consumer fraud, financial services, contract, employment, fiduciary duty, advertising/sweepstakes, insurance, fraud and accounting malpractice litigation, arbitrations, simulations and mediations. Fluent in Spanish, Yvette also has extensive experience managing Latin America-related litigation and arbitration. Other aspects of her practice include: counseling clients on reducing risks from consumer and advertising-related claims and representing clients in negotiations with state agencies on such claims; advising private equity firms on litigation risks facing their portfolio companies; and coordinating and arguing appeals in courts across the U.S., in the U.S. Court of Appeals, the Texas Supreme Court and the Fifth District Court of Appeals in Dallas.
