Jennifer Recine is a first-chair trial lawyer with extensive experience handling complex real estate disputes; disputes relating to distressed assets, structured products and CMBS; civil RICO and other securities actions; regulatory disputes, professional malpractice; tax; and other high-stake matters.  


Work Highlights:

  • Real Estate Disputes, Land Use and Environmental Actions -  Jennifer advises clients with commercial real estate, land use and environmental matters where billions of dollars are at stake.  She represented BD Hotels and Chelsea Hotel Owner LLC, owners of the iconic Hotel Chelsea, in successfully ending two years of litigation and 15 days of trial with New York City’s Department of Housing Preservation Development. She also represented real estate developer Bruce Eichner’s Continuum Company in zoning issues surrounding the company’s high profile residential development of two 39-story apartment towers at a former spice factory near the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in New York City and in defense of a class action claim concerning NYC timeshare the Manhattan Club.  She is lead counsel to Beverly Hills Unified School District in its NEPA action against the FTA challenging the proposed route of a subway in Los Angeles; won dismissal of breach of contract and fiduciary duty claims against Workspace brought by 106 Spring Street Owner; and obtained reversal of a taking of a parking lot from Steel Equities to satisfy the zoning requirements for Calpine’s Long Island Power Plant.
  • Complex Business Disputes.  Jennifer has successfully litigated and arbitrated complex commercial matters and tax disputes on behalf of New York investment banker Denis Bovin; New York architect Robert Siegel of Gwathmey, Siegel & Associates Architects; Developer Eric Hadar and his development company Allied Partners; and JFK Holdings Company in contract disputes with the City of New York, the Department of Homeless Services and The Salvation Army.
  • Securities, Corporate Governance, and Civil RICO.  Jennifer’s experience includes representing activist investors, class action defense, and defending against short-selling attacks on publicly traded companies on civil RICO and other grounds.  She has represented Fairfax Financial Holdings, Lehman Brothers Holdings, AmTrust Financial Services, Soroban Capital Partners and Energy Transfer.
  • Trusts & Estates and Fiduciary Duty Litigation.  Jennifer handles high-profile Trusts & Estates controversies for high-net worth individuals and families, as well as trustees.
  • Professional Malpractice.  Jennifer prosecutes and defends malpractice claims against attorneys, accountants and other professionals, including the successful defense of a high-profile suit by prominent female performer Rihanna against her former representatives.
  • Criminal and Regulatory Enforcement.  Jennifer represents individuals and organizations in white collar criminal and regulatory inquiries by the Department of Justice, the Department of Labor, securities regulators, and other city and state prosecutors and regulators.
