Partner of the firm since July 2008 in the area of intellectual property and IT in the Mexico City office. Actively involved in litigation, mainly Amparo actions (constitutional action) before the federal courts, including the Supreme Court of Justice for the protection of intellectual property rights against falsification and unfair competition, Constitutional proceedings focus on administrative matters, particularly in Intellectual Property, Antitrust Cases and Privacy and Data Protection.
He has extensive experience in administrative and federal court litigation and intangible rights protection in matters of unconstitutional laws and acts of authority.
In addition, he has developed unique strategies to compensate patent lost time due to red tape delays based on international treaties; has obtained court´s decisions on unconstitutional provisions of the Industrial Property Law in the process of defending trademark rights, which have been published by the famous Mexican newspaper Reforma as important precedent; has successfully defended domain names in international forums, including the World Intellectual Property Organization (“WIPO”).
He was responsible for the intellectual property practice at White & Case Mexico City Office and developed his own practice in this area before joining Basham.
Focuses on consulting and administrative litigation in general with broad experience in registration and protection of trademarks as well as in the licensing of intellectual property rights.
Active member of the Mexican Bar Association, particularly the Constitutional Rights Committee and of the Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property.
Has published numerous articles and essays on different subjects in the United States Review, “Privacy Law Adviser, Managing Intellectual Property, World Finance and The Mexican Law Review, The Forum, El Mundo del Abogado, La Barra, etc.
