Avi Bourassa joined Ross Nasseri LLP in March 2021, and was elevated from associate to partner in our firm in June 2022. Prior to joining the firm Avi practiced for five years as a litigation associate at McCarthy Tétrault.
Avi’s list of published decisions (25 and counting) is a testament to his burgeoning reputation as a leading lawyer among his peers for complex contractual and commercial cases. Avi’s clients trust him for his depth of knowledge, thoughtfulness, and creative problem-solving.
Over the past two years, Avi has been developing a particular expertise in cases involving fraud (both prosecuting and defending), including having obtained multiple Mareva injunctions, making him a go-to litigator for clients in need of urgent advice and representation. As an example, in April 2024, Avi obtained an urgent Mareva injunction and Norwich order on behalf of the plaintiffs in an action for fraud and breach of contract, in which the judge found that the alleged fraud “appear[ed] to be a classic Ponzi scheme”.
