Cynthia Spry is a partner at Babin Bessner Spry LLP. She is consistently recommended as conflicts counsel by several of the largest firms in Canada, and has been qualified as an expert on Canadian law (shareholder disputes) in foreign proceedings. Prior to forming Babin Bessner Spry LLP, Cynthia practiced in the litigation departments of two top-tier firms: Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg LLP and Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP.
Cynthia’s practice includes class actions, corporate governance and shareholder disputes (including claims for oppression remedies), corporate investigations, contractual disputes, competition and securities law. Cynthia appears before all levels of court in Ontario, including the Court of Appeal and the Commercial List of the Superior Court of Justice. She also appears before a number of administrative tribunals, including the Ontario Securities Commission and the Competition Tribunal.
Cynthia is a member of the Board of Directors of The Advocates’ Society, the former Chair of its Commercial Practice Group, and is a regular panelist at its continuing legal education programs. She volunteers as Duty Counsel at Law Society Discipline Committee Hearings, and is a former member of the Ontario Securities Commission Litigation Assistance Project.
