Biography

Jake Cabott is a Vancouver‑based partner at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP with a broad commercial litigation and arbitration practice focused on complex business disputes. He regularly represents companies and individuals in shareholder and corporate governance litigation, including oppression claims, director and officer liability, partnership disputes and commercial fraud. His practice also encompasses contract and property disputes, defamation claims, intellectual property matters, product liability actions and class action defence. Jake is particularly recognized for his experience in urgent injunction practice, including securing and resisting time‑sensitive remedies to protect assets and business operations. He has appeared as counsel at all levels of court in British Columbia and in other Canadian jurisdictions, as well as in domestic and international commercial arbitrations across a wide range of industries.

Jake was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2013 and is also licensed to practise law in Yukon (2019). He is actively involved in the profession as Chair of the CBABC Class Action Section and is a member of the Law Society of British Columbia, the Law Society of Yukon, the Canadian Bar Association, the Advocates’ Society and the Vancouver Bar Association. His community involvement includes significant volunteer work in the sport sector, including board service with Volleyball BC, pro bono representation of athletes in sport arbitrations, and coaching.
