Justine Covey

Justine Covey is a partner at Renno & Vathilakis with a practice spanning family, civil and commercial litigation. She has also been involved in some of the firm’s prominent class action proceedings.
 
She appears regularly before the Quebec courts, both at first instance and on appeal, and has participated in proceedings before the Supreme Court of Canada. Fully bilingual, she practices in both English and French.
 
Justine obtained her Licentiate in Law (LL.L., cum laude) from the University of Ottawa and spent her final semester at the Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium. She was called to the Quebec Bar in 2017 and also holds a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from the University of Montreal.
 
Her work includes complex divorce matters involving significant financial issues, alongside a broad range of civil, commercial and contractual disputes, including unjust enrichment and defamation claims, injunctive relief and shareholder disputes.
 
Justine is frequently involved in complex, high-conflict matters requiring the development of sophisticated legal arguments, and is known for her ability to distill intricate legal issues into clear and effective written and oral advocacy. Beyond her practice, she has served as a judge for the Laskin Moot Court Competition since 2020, evaluating appellate facta in a leading national bilingual moot focused on Canadian administrative and constitutional law.
