Kristin Leveille Rodriguez is a Principal in the Houston office of McKool Smith where she handles complex commercial and intellectual property litigation. Kristin’s representative experience encompasses a broad range of industries, including energy, oil and gas, financial, healthcare, pharmaceutical, and telecommunications.
Kristin is a dynamic and effective litigator having advised and represented clients in all stages of litigation, including pre-suit matters, all aspects of discovery, motion practice, trial and appeals, in both state and federal court and arbitration.
For her efforts, Kristin has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers for the past four years (2020-2023) and was named among the “Ones to Watch” by Best Lawyers in America. She has also been named a “Top Lawyer” by Houstonia magazine.
Prior to joining McKool Smith, Kristin served as a judicial intern for the Honorable Sim Lake and the Honorable Jeff Bohm in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas.
Kristin earned her law degree from the University of Houston Law Center where she was a member of the Houston Law Review (Board 50) and graduated magna cum laude. Before attending law school, Kristin graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in political science from Texas A&M University.
Representative matters include:
- Representing multiple relators in qui tam actions against pharmaceutical companies for illegal remuneration paid to Medicaid prescribers under the Texas Anti-Kickback Statute and the Texas Medicaid Fraud Prevention Act.
- Representing automotive parts supplier in antitrust litigation against original equipment manufacturer in federal court.
- Defended the largest natural gas producer in the U.S. in multiple matters involving claims for underpayment of oil and gas royalties, including a putative class action alleging failure to properly calculate and pay royalties on natural gas liquids.
- Represented construction companies in defense of fraudulent-transfer and breach-of-fiduciary-duty claims asserted by litigation trust seeking in excess of $300 million.
- Represented multiple technology companies in the International Trade Commission.
- Represented the liquidating trustee for Buccaneer Energy in claims exceeding $100 million against former officers and directors for breach of their fiduciary duty.
