Lance regularly represents investors (both individuals and institutions) in claims against their brokers, investment advisors, and/or investment banks in court or in arbitration proceedings administered by the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). He also represents several landowners in claims against oil and gas companies for damage and land loss caused by oil and gas operations.

Lance is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, an invitation-only trial lawyer honorary society. He is also a member of the Public Investor Advocate Bar Association (PIABA) and editor-in-chief of the PIABA Bar Journal. Additionally, Lance is Treasurer of PIABA’s 2025-2026 Board of Directors.

Lance has taught litigation skills classes at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law and Media Law at Tulane University Law School. He has represented criminal defendants on a pro bono basis.

Recent matter/case highlights
  • Represents investors who fell victim to a massive fake tribal tax credit scheme. White River Energy Corp., a publicly traded company, and other third-party promoters (including investment advisors and FINRA-registered brokers) marketed and sold investments in the credits as purported tax shelters to investors all over the country. The IRS has advised that “[t]hese federal tax credits do not exist, and taxpayers who claim them may face civil and criminal penalties.” The investors are pursuing claims for breach of fiduciary duty, negligent misrepresentation, violations of the securities laws, conversion, and others.
    ⠀
  • Represents John P. Nowak and seeks to certify a class consisting of all persons who purchased Solitude and Momentum RVs in Model Years 2017 to 2024 in the United States from Grand Design RV or Winnebago Industries. On behalf of the proposed class, Plaintiff seeks to remedy violations of applicable law in connection with the Defendants’ design, manufacture, promotion, and sale of the RVs. Plaintiff seeks injunctive relief and restitution for the full purchase price of the defective RVs. The suit alleges that the Defendants are liable under various legal theories, including violations of the Indiana Deceptive Consumer Sales Act and Implied Warranties.
    ⠀
  • Represents Gasology, LLC, a motor fuel marketplace that enables real-time transactions between buyers, sellers, and carriers, against SP Securities, LLC, a FINRA-registered brokerage firm, and its registered representative. Plaintiffs assert damages for breach of contract, bad faith breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of duty of good faith, unfair business practices, fraud, securities law violations, violation of FINRA rules, detrimental reliance, and conspiracy.
    ⠀
  • Represents Plaintiff, whose Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, property is composed of coastal wetlands. The Defendants, including Southern Natural Gas Company, LLC and Gulf South Pipeline Company, LLC, among others, dredged pipeline canals on the Plaintiff’s property. The Defendants (or their predecessors-in-interest) entered into right-of-way agreements with the Plaintiff (or their predecessors-in-interest), contracts which require that the pipeline canals cannot exceed certain widths. The canals far exceed these stated widths, a breach of the contracts. Additionally, the expansion of the canals is causing significant damage and erosion on the property. The matter is set for a three-week jury trial May 1–19, 2028.

  • Represented the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, which oversees the wetland property of the Elmer’s Island Wildlife Refuge. Occupying over a thousand acres of coastal marshlands in Jefferson Parish, this land is entrusted to the LDWF and provides habitats for many species of fish and wildlife. It also offers valuable ecological functions, namely storm protection and public recreation. Over time, numerous canals were dredged across the area for the installation of oil and gas pipelines. The failure to maintain the canals and related infrastructure is in violation of right of way agreements and has caused destruction of the important marshlands across the Elmer’s Island Wildlife Refuge. The LDWF filed a suit seeking to require the pipeline Defendants to honor their contractual obligations to safeguard and restore the coastal wetlands they have damaged. The LDWF also filed suit as the agent chosen by the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission, the other co-owner of the land, to represent its interests in this litigation. The firm successfully resolved the case in January 2026. Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, et al. v. BP Oil Pipeline Company, et al., Case No. 848-369, 24th Judicial District Court for the Parish of Jefferson.
