Matt Johnson maintains a national trial practice that focuses on complex commercial and business litigation, and he also has extensive antitrust litigation experience. Mr. Johnson has tried cases in state and federal courts across the country, and has tried numerous arbitration proceedings around the nation. Mr. Johnson’s corporate litigation experience involves extensive experience in cases regarding breaches of contract, breach of fiduciary duties/securities issues, antitrust matters, oil and gas/energy disputes, oil and gas joint venture operating agreements, M&A disputes, environmental contamination disputes (including CERCLA litigation), trade secrets violations and non-compete issues. Mr. Johnson also has extensive experience litigating in the FINRA arbitration forum both on behalf of investors and on behalf of securities firms. Mr. Johnson has notable experience in taking dozens of matters to trial including trying an antitrust case to verdict, obtaining a multi-million dollar FINRA award after Final Hearing, and trying numerous oil and gas disputes and complex commercial business disputes to verdict or final award (in arbitration). With 20 years’ of experience practicing law as a commercial litigator, Mr. Johnson has developed extensive trial and arbitration experience in state and federal courts across the nation.
Prior to joining Dowd Bennett, Matt began his law practice in the Chicago office of Latham & Watkins LLP, and subsequently worked as an associate at Davis Graham & Stubbs LLP in Denver. Prior to joining Dowd Bennett’s Denver office in early 2018, Matt was a partner at Wheeler Trigg O’Donnell LLP in Denver.
