Robert Cooper, K.C. is a leading trial lawyer. He practices as general counsel at McEwan Partners with a focus on corporate, commercial and securities litigation. Beginning practice as criminal defence counsel, he regularly helps a diverse range of Canadian and international clients navigate their most difficult circumstances for over 30 years. He advocates for clients at every level of court, before regulatory tribunals, and in domestic and international arbitrations. Mr. Cooper advises clients in proxy contests and shareholder disputes and conducts internal investigations for major corporations.
Mr. Cooper is recognized as leading counsel and is listed with Chambers Global, Best Lawyers, Lexpert, Martindale Hubbell (AV) and Benchmark Litigation Canada. In 2019, Lexpert recognized Mr. Cooper as a leading litigation lawyer in Canada, particularly in Corporate-Commercial Litigation and in Securities Litigation.
