Biography

Sandeep Joshi is a founding partner at Morgan Joshi LLP, a Toronto boutique focused on complex business disputes, investigations, and regulatory defence. He acts for businesses, directors, and executives in high‑stakes litigation and enforcement proceedings across Canada.

His defence‑focused litigation practice centres on complex business disputes and director and officer liability claims. He regularly defends companies, directors, and executives across the banking, insurance, energy, and manufacturing sectors in breach of contract, fiduciary duty, fraud, and misrepresentation disputes, and has defended multinationals in class actions alleging conspiracy, fraud, and price‑fixing. He is currently defending independent directors in a $1.4 billion claim arising from the collapse of an investment fund company, and recently defended an officer and shareholder in a $900 million claim related to a construction company failure.

On the regulatory side, Sandeep has defended clients in insider trading, fraud, and material misrepresentation investigations and enforcement proceedings before provincial securities commissions and CIRO. He has also represented companies in Competition Act investigations involving price‑fixing, bid‑rigging, and abuse of dominance. In addition, he has represented banks in FCAC enforcement matters and privacy breach investigations before the OPC.

Sandeep also conducts independent corporate investigations into alleged wrongdoing by executives, directors, and organizations. He has investigated C‑suite misconduct across financial services, consumer products, and technology companies, and led inquiries into alleged maltreatment and misconduct in elite‑level sport.

Before founding Morgan Joshi, he practiced in the national litigation departments at Torys LLP and Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, and served as Associate General Counsel at BMO Financial Group where he led the Canadian regulatory team and the corporate investigations team.

Sandeep is called to the bar in Ontario and Alberta.
