Susan Shin

Susan Shin is a first-chair trial lawyer who represents public and private companies, financial institutions, private equity firms, and senior executives in high-stakes commercial disputes. She handles complex cases in federal and state courts across the country and in U.S. and international arbitrations, with experience spanning commercial and contractual disputes, antitrust and competition matters, class actions, consumer protection, fraud, RICO, and securities.

Susan has tried multiple cases to verdict and has a record of significant victories at trial and in complex commercial disputes. Her recent work includes serving as trial counsel for Circana in complex contract and data-access litigation against NielsenIQ in the Delaware Court of Chancery, which resolved favorably through a mid-trial settlement. Her other results include complete defense victories as lead trial counsel in federal jury and bench trials, defeating a multibillion-dollar RICO and securities claim against a prominent hedge fund, and serving as court-appointed co-lead defense counsel in multidistrict litigation involving 26 putative consumer class actions.

A significant part of Susan’s practice involves cross-border disputes and counseling international companies, including Korean companies doing business in the United States. Clients turn to her to develop litigation strategies that account for their broader business objectives, reputational concerns, and commercial relationships.

Susan serves on the Commercial Division Advisory Council of the Supreme Court of the State of New York. She previously served as a law clerk to the Honorable Raymond J. Dearie of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York.
