Thomas has extensive trial and courtroom experience, having appeared before all levels of court in British Columbia, the Federal Court of Canada, and arbitral tribunals. He has acted as lead counsel in lengthy trials and regularly appears on complex chambers applications, shareholder oppression proceedings, insolvency matters, and other contested proceedings. His practice includes matters involving substantial financial exposure, complex governance issues, and reputational risk, where strategic advocacy and trial experience are critical.
His practice regularly involves high-value commercial disputes, including matters valued in excess of US$100 million involving public companies, cross-border transactions, and complex corporate governance issues. His recent work includes litigation involving allegations of corporate fraud, directors' and officers' liability, shareholder rights, cross-border corporate governance disputes, insolvency proceedings, and other complex commercial disputes.
He has also successfully represented clients in substantial fraud claims, partnership and shareholder disputes, commercial lease litigation, construction disputes, and business torts, including matters involving novel and developing areas of law.

A.R. Thomson Group Litigation
Acted for A.R. Thomson Group and James Thomson, Executor of the Estate of Allan Thomson, successfully defending two actions brought by Lisa Thomson and companies controlled by her. The proceedings culminated in a 19-day trial, where Thomas Clifford and Alison Jacobs successfully defeated all claims. The litigation involved complex issues of partnership law, contract formation, fraudulent and negligent misrepresentation, limitation periods, and abuse of process. An appeal remains under reserve.

Acted for Bruush Oral Care Inc. in two proceedings arising from an alleged $25 million fraud involving its former founder and CEO. The matters concern allegations of misappropriation of company funds, breach of fiduciary duty, negligence, and corporate governance failures by former directors and officers.
