Recent matter/case highlights

  • Tim Maloney and his team represented Charles Winegardner and Winegardner Ford in a high-stakes dispute with Ford Motor Company regarding the purchase of the Hunt Ford dealership in La Plata, Maryland. The matter arose from a 2019 agreement under which Winegardner had negotiated to acquire the dealership and Ford attempted to exercise a right of first refusal to block the sale. The matter ultimately resulted in a $5.7 million jury verdict that vindicated the clients’ contractual rights.

  • Maloney represents a Medicare and Medicaid recovery firm in a multi-jurisdictional class action against a major insurance company for failure to reimburse Medicare Advantage Organizations as required under the Medicare Secondary Payer Act. JGL was responsible for briefing, appellate argument, and strategy development. The case is now back in federal court for continued class certification and prosecution. There are more than $500 million in assigned claims at issue.

  • Maloney also represents a family in a police brutality case, where the plaintiff is seeking $6 million in damages.
