Jason Vitullo is a Partner in Patterson Belknap’s Litigation department.  His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, including several high-stakes structured-finance and securities matters, as well as disputes involving intellectual property, trade secrets, and false advertising.  He also represents clients in internal investigation and government investigation defense matters, with a focus on financial products.  He represents clients across a variety of industries, including large financial institutions, technology companies, pharmaceutical companies, and not-for-profit organizations. His work covers all stages of a dispute, including through trial and appeal.

Mr. Vitullo was part of a team that recently secured a $600 million judgment for a client in litigation against a sponsor of residential mortgage-backed securities, following a multi-week trial in New York State Court, during which Mr. Vitullo conducted the examinations of both sides’ damages experts. He regularly engages in pro bono work, and successfully briefed and argued an appeal before an Administrative Law Judge following the Social Security Administration’s denial of benefits to a severely disable individual.

Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Vitullo served as Law Clerk to the Hon. Amalya L. Kearse, U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit. He received his J.D. as a James Kent Scholar and Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar from Columbia Law School, where he served as an editor of the Columbia Law Review. He received his B.A. in Chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania, magna cum laude.
