Joe’s practice focuses on commercial litigation, arbitration, and securities litigation. He regularly acts for corporations (both public and closely held private companies), and their directors, officers, and shareholders.
Joe has extensive experience representing clients in contract disputes, real estate disputes, corporate governance, oppression and shareholder litigation and securities law matters. He has appeared as counsel before all levels of Court in British Columbia, the Federal Court, the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench, as well as administrative tribunals and regulators, and in private arbitrations.
Known for his strategic thinking and attention to detail, Joe approaches litigation through a commercial lens. He understands his clients’ business objectives and how best to achieve them. Whether the path is a negotiated resolution or a hard-fought trial, Joe has the technical skills and experience to successfully navigate any commercial dispute.
Prior to co-founding Poulus Ensom LLP, Joe practiced with two top Vancouver-based boutique law firms after spending six years practicing at a leading national firm.
