Travis DeArman is a trial lawyer in McKool Smith’s Dallas office. Travis manages cases from pre-filing investigation through appeal, and has represented plaintiffs and defendants in federal and state court and in arbitration as first- and second-chair trial counsel. His experience extends to antirust, investment, corporate governance, fiduciary duty, and other complex commercial matters, as well as patent, copyright, and trade secret cases involving a wide range of industries and technology.
Most recently, Travis secured a win on behalf of Spoken Giants (a rights administration company for spoken word copyrights) against Pandora Media. On April 5, 2023, a California federal judge dismissed Pandora Media’s antitrust claims against Spoken Giants, with prejudice, finding that Pandora failed to plausibly allege any violation of the Sherman Act by Spoken Giants.
In 2023, Travis served on the faculty for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) trial-skills program in Dallas. He has been named a “Best Lawyer Under 40” by D Magazine, recognized among “Ones to Watch” by Best Lawyers in America, and voted a “Rising Star” by Texas Super Lawyers.
From 2014 - 2015, Travis served as a law clerk for the Honorable J. Rodney Gilstrap, United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Texas.
Travis earned his law degree from University of Virginia School of Law and his B.A. in International Relations from University of Southern California.
