Claire Hunter, K.C. is an experienced litigator practicing in commercial litigation, public and administrative law and class actions. She regularly appears as counsel at trial and appellate levels, including all courts in British Columbia and the Supreme Court of Can-ada, as well as before arbitration tribunals and administrative boards. Claire represents a diverse clientele from individuals to large corporations and public authorities. She acts for and against government on significant constitutional law matters. Claire is recognized by all major ranking organizations including Lexpert, Benchmark, Chambers Canada and Best Lawyers.

Claire joined Hunter Litigation Chambers in Vancouver in 2010, following five years at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York, where she focused on defending financial institutions in criminal, regulatory, and securities class actions. A graduate of McGill, Stanford, and the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, Claire served as a law clerk to Justice Iacobucci of the Supreme Court of Canada before practicing in New York. She is a member of the New York State Bar since 2004 and was called to the British Columbia bar in 2010. Claire was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 2018.

Claire is actively involved in community work, including providing pro bono legal services. She is a governor of the Law Foundation of British Columbia and a director of the Canadian Institute for Advanced Legal Studies and has previously served as Chair and President of the Access Pro Bono Society of British Columbia and Vice Chair of the Access to Legal Services Advisory Committee of the Law Society of British Columbia as well as numerous leadership positions in the Canadian Bar Assocation. Claire has received multiple awards for her pro bono work, including the Allan Parker QC Award, Harry Rankin QC Pro Bono Award, Ann Wilson and Robert Prichard Award for Com-munity and Professional Service, and a Lexpert Zenith Award.
