Jennifer is one of America’s most successful trial attorneys, having tried over 150 jury trials to verdict as lead or co-lead counsel. She represents both plaintiffs and defendants in a broad range of high-stakes commercial litigation and white-collar cases. Her clients include Microsoft, AIG, Standard & Poors, and other Fortune 500 corporations, in addition to entrepreneurs and closely held companies.
Jennifer is a Fellow of the invitation-only American College of Trial Lawyers, considered to be among the highest honors a North American trial attorney can receive. Chambers USA and Chambers Global rank her in Band 1 for both Commercial Litigation and Trials (of all types), quoting sources who say she “has uncanny instincts, a wonderful courtroom demeanor and she’s an extremely clear and effective communicator” and is “widely regarded as one of the best trial lawyers in California.” Jennifer is also a 2018 inductee into the California Lawyers Association Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame, one of only 36 attorneys so honored throughout the years. The Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journals have ranked Jennifer a “Top 100 Lawyer in California” for the last 15 years in a row. In 2020 and 2021, Super Lawyers ranked Jennifer #1 in Southern California.
In 2018, Jennifer won two landmark jury verdicts in starkly different areas, each of which was named a “Top Defense Verdict” by the Los Angeles and San Francisco Daily Journals. In 2017, as co-lead counsel, Jennifer obtained a not guilty verdict for a real estate developer client after a nine-month jury trial in what the California Attorney General called “the largest corruption case in the history of San Bernardino, and possibly California.” In 2021, Jennifer led a billion-dollar legal malpractice lawsuit against Katten Muchin. After losing its key motions, Katten settled the case on the eve of trial. In 2022, Jennifer successfully defended two-time Oscar winner Kevin Spacey in a highly publicized, $40 million sexual battery civil jury trial in the Southern District of New York, with the jury reaching a verdict in 90 minutes. Eight months later, she won a complete defense verdict for MGA Entertainment against Rapper Clifford “T.I.” Harris in a $100 million intellectual property suit.
In another highly publicized, landmark case for MGA, Jennifer made a last-minute entrance as MGA’s lead trial counsel in the 2011 retrial of Mattel v. MGA, the epic doll battle popularly known as “Barbie v. Bratz.” Coming into the four-month jury trial just twelve days before jury selection, Jennifer captained MGA to a win, with Reuters calling it “an astonishing loss” for Mattel and the L.A. Times deeming it “a stunning reversal of fortune” for MGA.
