An experienced trial lawyer, Brittani A. Jackson regularly leads or serves as a core member of teams handling Hueston Hennigan’s highest-profile matters. Recognized as one of the Daily Journal’s “Leading Commercial Litigators,” she is praised by clients to Chambers as an “excellent” and “very skilled” lawyer.

Ms. Jackson represents clients in a broad range of matters, including mass tort litigation, commercial contract disputes, employment and partnership disputes, privacy issues, trade secret misappropriation, shareholder activism, issues of corporate governance, and securities litigation. She has also represented clients in investigations conducted by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and various state attorneys general and has spearheaded numerous internal corporate investigations.

In addition to “Leading Commercial Litigators,” Ms. Jackson has been recognized among the Los Angeles Business Journal’s “Women of Influence: Attorneys,” the Daily Journal’s “Top Women Lawyers” and “Top 40 Under 40,” and The Recorder’s “Lawyers on the Fast Track,” among other accolades.

Recent matter/case highlights
  • Secured the complete dismissal on summary judgment of the lead plaintiff’s case in $200 million wrongful death and negligence litigation against the country’s largest integrated healthcare system. Subsequently, all other plaintiffs agreed to dismiss their claims. The litigation, which related to a travel nurse who allegedly caused a high-profile fatal crash, had potentially widespread implications for the healthcare system’s liability involving its off-duty nurses and contracted workers.

  • On behalf of Amazon and Twitch, secured a first-of-its-kind decision in New York state, with the New York appellate court dismissing lawsuits alleging our clients and other social media companies were liable for a fatal mass shooting in Buffalo, New York. The plaintiffs—victims of the shooting and their family members—contend the shooter was radicalized by extremist and racist content on social media and that his ability to livestream on Twitch motivated him to commit the crimes. The claims included wrongful death, product liability, negligence, and infliction of emotional distress.

  • Obtained a favorable resolution for a video game company, which was a target of mass arbitration wherein thousands of individual consumers alleged its gaming practices violated state consumer protection laws. The matter spanned three different forums, including the mass arbitration forum FedArb as well as California state court and JAMS. Prior to the settlement, Ms. Jackson significantly narrowed the list of claimants through proactive efforts across all forums.

  • Leading the team handling California, Illinois, Maine, Rhode Island, New Jersey, Oregon and Vermont litigation as part of Hueston Hennigan’s engagement as national coordinating counsel and trial counsel for ExxonMobil in cases brought by state AGs and municipalities across the U.S., which involve public nuisance and consumer protection claims over the impacts of climate change. The firm is overseeing and serving as trial counsel for all national cases.

  • Served as trial counsel, including as first or second chair for multiple trials, for a Western utility in litigation arising out of the 2020 “Labor Day Fires” near Portland, Oregon. The fires burned over 500,000 acres across at least five counties in Oregon and California and allegedly destroyed over 2,000 structures. She is also serving as co-lead counsel for another utility, Southern California Edison, in litigation filed over the January 2025 “Eaton Fire” in Altadena in Los Angeles County, one of the most destructive wildfires in California history.
