Biography
Taylor Gooch is a partner and trial lawyer in WilmerHale’s Intellectual Property Litigation Practice. Taylor represents clients in US district courts, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the US International Trade Commission, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board, and in arbitration. His cases have involved technologies including artificial intelligence, semiconductors, telecommunications, digital media, video streaming, computer graphics, motion capture, life sciences and consumer products.
Taylor regularly advises clients ranging from startups to Fortune 50 companies. His recent matters include significant representations for Netflix, X Corp., Anthropic, Disney, Marvel, Thermo Fisher Scientific, and Honeylove in complex patent, copyright, license disputes, and other technology-related litigation. He has played leading roles in matters involving substantial financial exposure and novel legal questions, including disputes at the forefront of generative AI copyright litigation.
Before joining WilmerHale, Taylor served as a law clerk to Chief Judge Sharon Prost of the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and Judge Richard Andrews of the US District Court for the District of Delaware.
Taylor also maintains an active pro bono practice focused on civil rights, disability access, immigration, reproductive rights and worker protections. He is Chair of the firm's Western Region Inclusion Committee, founder of the Bay Area LGBTQ+ Attorneys Group and a member of the San Francisco Hiring Committee. His recognitions include The San Francisco Business Times' 40 Under 40 list and Northern California Super Lawyers.
