Dispute resolution

D&L Partners formally changed its name from Victory, as it was previously known, at the beginning of 2022. Its dispute offering is known for commercial litigation and arbitration, with experienced litigators including a vice-chair of the Quang Nam Province Bar Association and an arbitrator at the Vietnam International Arbitration Center (VIAC) and the Pacific International Arbitration Centre.  Recently, the firm has been active in various energy and construction, consumer goods and real estate disputes. The team is experienced at all court levels and dispute resolution forums. This year the firm scaled up in the labour and employment rankings.

Three partners lead the dispute resolution team: Viet Dung Tran, Tuyet Dung Le Thi and Van Hiep Trinh.

The firm represented Goodyear Vietnam at the VIAC in its joint venture dispute relating to the interpretation and application of the fundamental change of circumstance in relation to the adoption of planning policy of the Ho Chi Minh City government. The team also acted for Vietsovpetro, an oil and gas joint venture between Russia and Vietnam, in a battle over an oil-well demolishing service. In another construction-related matter, the firm represented Astrocon as the respondent in an arbitration at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre. The complainant, a German investor, had requested the client pay a penalty for not completing the construction of a plant in accordance with the contract.

In a labour matter, the firm went to bat for Shinhan Finance Vietnam at the labour court of Ho Chi Minh City against allegations of wrongful termination by a former employee.

Conmin, Hoa Binh Construction Group and TFL Hong Kong are recent, publishable clients.
