Dispute resolution

Boutique firm Lee & Koh specialises in construction, corporate, commercial, and banking litigation, as well as alternate dispute resolution. They have notable expertise in Islamic banking, infrastructure, and highway construction disputes, frequently assisting highway concessionaires in land acquisition and handling general litigation matters.

The team is led by managing partner Yew Chong Koh and senior partner Irwan Ismail, both experienced dispute resolution practitioners. Partner Justin Leong also contributes to the team's expertise. Ismail, in particular, is recognised as a leading expert in Islamic finance, having previously worked with AmIslamic Bank and Maybank Islamic Bank on their legal matters.

In commercial and transactions, the firm advised AmBank in a series of suits against a public listed company, namely Bina Puri Holdings, and its subsidiary  Bina Puri to recover debts of RM33.7 million ($7 million).

On the construction front, the firm advised Malaysian Highway Board and West Coast Expressway, a subsidiary of IJM, on the acquisition of 10 pieces of land owned by Sime Darby Plantation amounting to almost RM1 billion.

Key clients are Besraya, New Pantai Expressway and West Coast Expressway.
