Dispute resolution

Recognised for its dispute resolution expertise, especially in the commercial and transaction space, Norton Rose Fulbright has an excellent track record of managing large and complex transactions, projects, and disputes in China and internationally. The firm also regularly advises clients on IP-related disputes, with a particular niche in the technology and life sciences sector.

Partners Camille Jojo and Alfred Wu are two reputable dispute resolution stars from the firm. Jojo handles a wide range of complex finance disputes, whereas Wu often advises clients on an extensive range of general commercial litigation and arbitration.

In commercial and transactions, the firm is acting for Paloma, a leading manufacturer of gas appliances based in Japan, in enforcing a Japan Commercial Arbitration Association award of more than HK$270 million ($34.5 million) against a subsidiary of Capxon International Electronic Company.

The firm is currently providing advisory services to a prominent Hong Kong construction company, acting as the unsecured creditors, amidst the looming possibility of Hong Kong Airlines' collapse. Initially, a winding-up petition was filed against Hong Kong Airlines; however, it was subsequently dismissed by consent after the approval of the airline's scheme of arrangement in Hong Kong and its parallel restructuring plan in the UK. As per the scheme and plan, the firm's client, along with other scheme creditors, is expected to receive distributions in due course. Throughout the scheme of arrangement process, the firm has been assisting the client with restructuring and insolvency matters. Notably, the High Court has granted an order in favour of the firm's client through the Injunction Summons, which entails the ringfencing of retention monies until the Originating Summons is determined. This case holds significant importance due to its implications for the potential collapse of one of Hong Kong's largest airlines.

The rest of the clients the firm advised on remain strictly confidential.

The firm promoted Daniel Ng to partner in January 2022.
