Dispute resolution

RPC is renowned for its extensive experience in dispute resolution, especially in its insurance forte. With a team of market-leading partners, the firm handles a diverse range of high-value and complex disputes, including commercial, corporate, professional negligence, banking and finance, insurance, technology, cyber and crypto fraud, and regulatory matters.

Under the leadership of Charles Allen, the firm’s commercial disputes team – consisting of Jonathan Crompton, Jacky Darsono, and Yi-Shun Teoh – operates seamlessly across international jurisdictions and caters to clients from diverse industry sectors. They offer expert advice and representation on a multitude of contentious matters, including contractual disputes, tortious claims, corporate conflicts, trust disputes, breach of confidence cases, and internal investigations.

In commercial and transactions, the firm has been providing legal counsel and representation to HEX Trust in their pursuit of payment from a former customer for custodial and platform services. This involved extensive pre-litigation communications and winding-up proceedings before the English court. The proceedings faced complications due to the impact of Covid-19 and related measures implemented by the English judiciary. The firm achieved a favourable outcome for the client, securing a judgment ordering the winding-up of the debtor company.

Other notable clients include BDO, Hammer Capital, MJDS Holdings and Moore.

In May 2023, the firm promoted Yi-Shun Teoh to partner. Teoh collaborates closely with the Singapore team to explore opportunities for serving Hong Kong clients interested in Malaysia and facilitating outbound referrals.

Client feedback

“There is too much to go into here but it was a very simple funding agreement which has turned incredibly complex. From the start to date, I have felt my interests at all times have been paramount.” – International arbitration

Jonathan Crompton
