This year, three of the firm’s lawyers have been awarded the title of Top Arbitrator by Benchmark Latin AmericaAdrián Magallanes is active in litigation and arbitration matters for clients in the oil & gas, electricity, construction, aviation, automotive, pharmaceutical, and consumer goods industries. Magallanes’ litigation practice involves numerous class actions, including one that is regarded as one of the most important trials in Mexican court. He is a lead partner in defending Syngenta against the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Natural Resources, which are acting as named respondents in this complex and highly political commercial case. In addition, Magallanes has also defended a Netherlands-based oil and gas company that is facing complex administrative litigation involving an ICC arbitration for a claim for damages. Montserrat Manzano is also recognized as a Top Arbitrator this year. She has participated in dozens of arbitrations as counsel, arbitrator, or secretary, under the rules of the ICC, AAA, UNCITRAL, and ICSID among others. She was a lead partner representing Fresnius Medical Care in an administrative matter involving the company’s suspension as a provider to the Mexican government after its refusal to sign an agreement. The matter resulted in a favorable final decision for the client.

As a leading expert in commercial litigation matters, Diego Sierra frequently represents clients in negligence, breach of contract and tortious liability claims, and in class action suits. His expertise also covers handling international arbitration cases in the construction, hospitality, oil & gas and consumer product industries. His active casework involves both defending and pursuing civil and commercial claims. Sierra is acting as plaintiff on behalf of several clients, including Siemens in three trials, and Hella Automotive Mexico in a dispute valued at roughly $35 million. Over the course of his 40-year career, founding partner Claus von Wobeser has acted as counsel and arbitrator in more than 200 arbitration proceedings. He rounds out the firm's list of Top Arbitrators. He also continues to handle important and strategic administrative proceedings, often involving the Mexican government.
