The co-head of the disputes practice in Mexico City, Enrique Espejel specializes in commercial, compliance, bankruptcy, technology, and white-collar disputes in local and federal courts. He is widely regarded as an expert in representing both debtors and creditors in insolvency cases and in matters related to liquidation and estate distribution. Espejel has recently been involved in several multi-million dollar bankruptcy and liquidation disputes. In addition, he is also lead partner defending Facebook in a Mexico-based dispute involving the social media giant and its Mexican subsidiary. The matter is the first civil litigation brought against Facebook in Mexico.

Ismael Reyes-Retana manages a practice dedicated to administrative litigations. Recently, Reyes-Retana concluded a three-year long Amparo trial for Aeromexico, which resulted in a favorable ruling at the Federal Court of Appeals. The court ruled that the resolution issued by the Federal Antitrust Commission infringed Aeromexico’s constitutional rights. He additionally continues to represent Televisa and subsidiaries in numerous proceedings before the Federal Telecommunications Institute as well as federal courts. Antonio Cardenas specializes in bringing Amparo proceedings and ordinary defense procedures in administrative matters. Cardenas is currently handling ten different Amparo trials against the traffic and road regulations of ten municipalities. Cardenas recently led the team to persuade several different district judges and three circuit courts that all 10 lawsuits are with merit. Rafael Llano heads the firm’s arbitration practice in Mexico City. He is widely recognized for his trial acumen and international arbitration experience in many high-profile Latin American disputes. He is active in commercial arbitration and litigation matters and routinely acts as arbitrator under various arbitration rules. Llano is often tapped to handle international arbitrations. He is co-leading a team in representing Telefonica in a high-profile ICSID arbitration under the Spain-Colombia BIT, and additionally, continues to represent and assist the Republic of Peru in high-profile matters following the win in the first case under the US-Peru Trade Promotion Agreement. His leadership on behalf of the Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice for victims in a precedent-setting case before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights earned an Impact Case award at the 2021 Benchmark Latin America Awards.
