The firm’s litigation bench is stocked top-to-bottom with talent ranging from senior statesmen to up-and-comers, all of whom elicit praise from peers and appreciation from clients. Its practitioners have expertise spanning a range of industries including banking and financial services, energy, real estate and manufacturing. Prominently active in significant cross-border dispute cases, the firm is also known to have appeared in the largest number of cases before the Supreme People’s Court of China. It also provides a top-tier international arbitration service seated across the globe.

Prominent figures include commercial disputes star Lijun Cao, insolvency lawyer Shengfeng Xu, regulatory expert Gary Gao, international arbitration specialist Huawei Sun, employment focused Carol Zhu and construction lawyer Yueping Zhou. Other notable lawyers include Changyu Fu, Baosheng Zhang and Wei Bao.

In the commercial space, the firm is representing North Industries Group Red Arrow in response to a series of misrepresentation lawsuits. This case involves a detailed examination of the concepts of “materiality and transaction causation” and “refined determination of loss causation”. Notably, it is the first case in which the court determined the compensation ratio by considering the loss appraisal result of a third party and various factors specific to each case.

In the construction arena, the firm represented China Energy Engineering Group Yunnan Electric Power Design Institute in the asset disposal of Menghai Photovoltaic Power Station. This case involved a ground-mounted photovoltaic power station with specific energy industry attributes. The execution of the project encompassed various issues such as electricity tariffs, operating rights, and other unique considerations. The case covered a wide range of legal aspects, exhaustively utilising all means stipulated by the law, and even touching upon bankruptcy procedures. As a significant case for China Energy Construction Group, it garnered considerable attention from the Yunnan Higher People's Court and various levels of government.

In government and regulatory, the firm acted for a hydropower construction company, along with its domestic and overseas subsidiaries and branches, in establishing a comprehensive compliance management structure aligned with its business and operational practices. This was done in accordance with the Integrity and Compliance Guidelines of the World Bank Group. The firm assisted the company in formulating 11 compliance policies covering various areas, including anti-commercial bribery, bidding, business partner management, labour and employment, and financial management. Additionally, the firm provided targeted compliance training to employees at different levels and positions within the organisation through 20 training sessions. To ensure the strict implementation of compliance requirements, the firm assisted the company in integrating all core compliance management processes into their office automation system, effectively achieving a ‘hard control’ over compliance management.

The firm’s recent client roster includes Beijing Shougang International Engineering and Technology, China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, National Energy Shaanxi Hydropower, Shenzhen Huaxun Fangzhou Investment and Zhejiang Unifull Industrial Fibre.
