Benito is a well-rounded lawyer with special expertise in arbitration, litigation and corporate law with over 20 years of experience. 


He has steered the firm and his career to practice areas that have a profound impact in the economy, infrastructure of his country and justice in general. 


With this in mind, Benito has a specialized practice in Arbitration and litigation for the sectors in which he believes his contributions will have a lasting and profound impact.


As of today, following this vision he advises companies with operations in Honduras in the regulated sector, government concessions, infrastructure projects, construction, energy, banking, insurance and large corporations.  


Understanding the importance of corporations in the development of the region, Benito also leads the corporate department of the firm. For the last few years, the firm has been at the forefront of advising Public-Private Partnerships, contributing to the widespread use of this option in the structuring of complex infrastructure projects advising clients in the establishment, operation, contract management within this novel structures.  


Benito has also been part of a number of arbitration tribunals as institutional and ad-hoc arbitrator, where he decided to get involved to contribute not only as litigator but also as decider, in order to have a further impact in the justice sector. 


Some of his recent work include the representation of  an important construction company in an arbitration claim against the Instituto Nacional de Previsión del Magisterio (Government Entity), claiming payment of capital, interest, and various compensations, in which a favourable arbitration award was obtained that included all of the above plus damages, and the contract management of all the related contracts of the construction and operation of the Palmerola International Airport and the legal oversight of the operation and administration of the three airports of La Ceiba, San Pedro Sula and Roatan which include contractual matters, conflicts, litigation and all around advice in the operation and construction of the aforementioned airports. 


Benito is a frequent speaker at bar associations and professional organizations on issues relating to Abritration and Litigation in Infrastructure and Construction Projects he is also the Founder and president of the Spanish Arbitration Club Honduras chapter  and he coauthored the book “Dispute Resolution in Construction Contracts in Latin America”, contributing the article “Arbitration in Infrastructure Projects in Honduras”; published by the Mediation Center of the Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.  


Through the practice of law, lawyers can be agents of change in their societies. By focusing his career in areas of the law where the impact affects thousands of people, Benito seeks to be that agent of change through sound advice, ethical approach and out of the box impactful solutions.
