Mr. Rui Luo’s practice focuses on IP litigation and IP-related anti-monopoly dispute resolution. He has excellent experience representing multinational clients in complex and high-stake IP-related disputes in China.

Mr. Luo is a veteran litigator with extensive experience for all types of IP related disputes, including patent, trademark, copyright, trade secrets, competition law and anti-monopoly. In more than 10 years of practice, Mr. Luo has represented clients in IP disputes before all key IP courts in China. With his deep insight into the IP protection system in China, Mr. Luo has helped his clients won many landmark cases before Supreme People’s Court, Beijing High People’s Court, Guangdong High People’s and Beijing IP Court. A number of these cases have been selected as guideline cases by Supreme People’s Court, Beijing High People’s Court and Beijing IP Court.

Mr. Luo also has vast experience with patent invalidation proceedings before the Patent Re-examination Board of the State Intellectual Property Office. Mr. Luo is particularly experienced with coordinating patent invalidation proceedings with pertinent infringement actions to maximize the clients’ advantages and resolve complex patent disputes with high efficiency.

  • Represent the leading LED manufacturer in China in a series of patent infringement cases against its main competitor in China. Help the client to avoid the possible local protection in the counterparty’s homecourt, and initiate the lawsuits in a more neutral forum.
  • Represent a world leading smart phone manufacturer from South Korea in a global SEP dispute against Ericsson. Helped the client to file massive number of patent invalidation requests against Ericsson’s SEPs before the CNIPA.
  • Successfully defended a world leading smart phone manufacturer from the US in a patent infringement case related to smart pinyin input technology before Beijing IP Court.
