Sandeep is a Partner and the Team Lead of the Litigation department at SB LLP.
He practiced law for almost 20 years at a major, regional law firm prior to joining SB LLP in 2020.

Sandeep is an experienced litigator with significant court room experience at both the trial and appellate level.

While Sandeep can provide clients service in all areas of civil litigation, he has practiced primarily in commercial litigation and Metis and First Nations law, with an emphasis in the areas of collections, security enforcement, bankruptcy and insolvency litigation, commercial lease disputes, Condominium Property Act matters and foreclosures.

He serves as Legal Counsel partnering with several lending institutions and banks, trustees and receivers, various condominium corporations, commercial property owners and landlords, several large provincial and federally regulated corporations, and a Metis Settlement.

Sandeep assists clients addressing complex commercial disputes. He has acted for clients involved in shareholder disputes. He has particular experience in securing assets and evidence by obtaining pre-judgment Court orders, including the appointment of an Inspector under the Business Corporations Act, Norwich Orders and Anton Pillar Orders.

He has represented clients before all levels of Court in Alberta, including the Court of Appeal, the Federal Court of Canada and various administrative boards and tribunals, and in 2010, Sandeep appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada on behalf of a Metis Settlement in a significant constitutional matter.

Sandeep has over 70 reported decisions arising from his various Court Appearances.

Sandeep is the co-author of the Carswell textbook Collections Law in Alberta: A Practical Guide which was published in March 2012. He regularly teaches the Alberta Bar Admission/CPLED Course and has guest lectured at the University of Alberta.

These commitments contributed to Sandeep being conferred the designation of King’s Counsel in 2016 by the Province of Alberta and recognition by his peers in the legal profession as a Benchmark “Litigation Star” annually since 2013.

He is an active member of the community with a particular interest in issues of food security and poverty issues. Sandeep served as member of the board and President of the Edmonton Inner City Housing Society for several years and recently completed 4 years as a member of the Edmonton Food Bank. In addition, Sandeep served on the board of Theatre Network (Live at the Roxy) for several years.

In 2008, Sandeep ran as a candidate in the Provincial Election for a major party and has historically been active in party politics.

He speaks the Indic languages of Punjabi and Hindi fluently, and is functional in Gujarati.
